ONE STEP: The Key that Unlocks Doors to Nations and Divine Provisions

Jenevie Sodsod-Dadule's testimony reveals a profound truth: answering God's call to missions begins with just one step of obedience that unlocks open doors to the nations, divine provisions, and miracles beyond our dreams and expectations. From just tagging along with her parents, her initial hesitation to go global, to eventually leading worship and evangelism worldwide, her story emphasizes that obedience, no matter how small, multiplies into extraordinary adventures where God sustains every need—from visas and accommodations to unexpected appointments with "men of peace."

Taking the First Step: The Spark that Ignited the Fire

Jenevie's mission journey started unexpectedly at International Teams’ Thursday fellowships in Palanan, Makati. She just happened to tag along with her parents, not expecting much, as she was content with just staying in the Philippines. However, one Thursday, Pastor Gani Sison's message stirred something in her heart.

That small stirring led her to continue going to the fellowship, and from being a mere observer and attendee, she became one of the regular worship leaders. Her desire to go into global missions grew, and this led to her first step: Access 1 training in Tagaytay. It was a small step, but a step forward nevertheless.

This first step of obedience was followed by another. This time, it was Access 2, her first cross-cultural exposure trip in Cambodia. Despite having only nine members in the team, they decided to push through and aptly called their team “uNINEted.” In Cambodia, they shared the Gospel in villages—encountering people who didn't know Jesus. Some even asked, “Is He a fish?” This experience ignited a fire in her soul, as it made her realize the great need to make Jesus known in other countries.

Divine Provisions Follow Obedience: From Cambodia to Korea to Europe

God's call became more undeniable after Cambodia. She then went to Korea, where she witnessed youth drain especially in rural churches.

She then felt drawn to join the Bless UK program in 2016. Despite visa uncertainties, limited finances, and skepticism about doing missions in a wealthy nation, Jenevie, then only 23 years old and the youngest member of the team, blazed forward. She made a last-minute decision to go. That time, her parents also applied for a visa to attend a conference in Europe. Visa applicants who received a large sheet of paper with their passports typically meant that their applications were denied, so when Jenevie herself received a large sheet of paper, she expected the same sad news. She even started rationalizing that maybe it was because she was too young. She was hesitant to check, but was pleasantly surprised to learn that she was granted a six-month visa!

The team engaged in street evangelism, kids' ministries, and Filipino community outreach. Within their six-month stay, they experienced how God moved in their midst. They enjoyed provisions that could only be described as divine and supernatural! Free lodging, abundant food, unlimited bus passes, and even a Christmas trip to Scotland. All testify to God’s boundless sustenance, using even strangers to bless His children.

Stepping Out Invites Miracles

In Scotland, they planned not to rent accommodations because they didn’t have the money; however, it was so cold, so they had to find a place on the spot. Thankfully, they found a nice but affordable hotel. In the next few days while moving to another town, God sent His “man of peace” who provided their food for the night and breakfast the following morning.

Here, she learned that a good handshake really had to be firm, because they were “cash grips,” where people gave them money while shaking hands with them -- another way that God sustained them through this journey.

On an interesting note, she was also reminded by what Ptr. Gani said that if you are a child of God, you are truly beautiful! During that trip, Jenevie gained a British suitor who even visited the Philippines to court her. But of course, her heart went out to the man whom God reserved for her, Ptr. Mark, now her husband. She jests that it was probably his nose that won her over. His love for music, and of course, his passion and love for Lord made her choose him.

Answer the Call, Unlock the Doors

Post-marriage, she and her family continue with their mission journey from the Philippines to Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and on to other countries with In Christ Worship Band and under International Teams Philippines.

All it took was one step forward. A step of faith. A step of obedience.

From a simple fellowship attendee to worship leader to international minister—Jenevie’s story highlights the power of sustained obedience. This testimony is a rallying cry: the world awaits—Cambodia's villagers, Korea's youth, UK's streets, and many other corners of the world where Jesus Christ does not reign.

When you take that one step toward missions, God handles the rest, opening doors and pouring out miracles you never imagined. Soli Deo Gloria!
