MIRACLES OF OBEDIENCE: From Poverty to Divine Wealth

When Melinda Bayson's family chose to obey God’s call, it was with the firm conviction that they would go through it together despite personal pain and even amidst great loss. In turn, God honored their sacrifices with profound blessings that transformed their humble beginnings into miraculous global journeys and strengthened their family bonds in faith.

Humble Beginnings to Divine Wealth: Sacrifices That Invited Overflowing Blessings

The Bayson family—Melinda, her husband Marvin, and their three children—began their global mission journey in August 2023 after connecting with International Teams Philippines through Pastora Pamela Martin. Prompted by a divine nudge, they urgently traveled from Aurora to Cavite for Access 1 training. As seasoned ministers of the gospel, they knew that true obedience should be instant despite financial, personal, or even logistical hurdles. This is an important lesson they have gleaned from many years of tugging Bluetooth speakers to share the Gospel in local markets, transport terminals, and other public places.

Once labeled "poor" by classmates for simple lunches like sweet potato leaves with shrimp paste, the Baysons sacrificed comfort to pursue their calling, knowing that those who humble themselves will be lifted up by God.

They prayed earnestly to go to global missions as a family despite the huge financial challenge. God answered this prayer miraculously: He provided for their first trip to Hong Kong and Macau as a complete family of five, without loans or debts, turning classmates' perceptions from poverty to divine wealth, all because they have a generous Heavenly Father who pours out blessings for them.

In Hong Kong, after sharing Jesus to a Chinese mother and her child, she gave them both a hug. The lady was surprised and asked her why, even though they were strangers, Melinda prayed for her and even hugged her. The lady felt the love of Jesus for the first time. Melinda knew that a seed had been planted and prayed that the lady would continue to seek Jesus.

Though Melinda had shared Jesus countless times in the Philippines, she knew that the experience in another culture and nation was very different. She felt compassion on the people for not knowing Jesus, prompting her to keep following God’s deeper call for her and her entire family.

Pursuing the Call Amidst Profound Grief and Great Need

In November 2025, they were preparing for the Cutting Edge Leadership Conference in Bali, Indonesia when Marvin’s father passed. Aside from the grief they went through, they also had to shell out a considerable amount for the wake and the funeral. This made them seriously consider if they would still push through with attending the conference.

Eventually, they decided to press forward, confident that God’s provisions would be enough. In a leap of faith and obedience, they pushed through without hesitation and got their tickets only six days before their flight.

Marvin’s father was buried at 2 PM and by 5 PM, they were on the way to Manila for their flight. God’s overflowing blessings enabled not only Marvin and Melinda, but also their youngest child Melvin, to attend the conference.

Interestingly, among  other members of their Global Mission Center, they were the last to book the ticket but were the first to fly out.

Right after Bali, her daughter celebrated her 18th birthday. They only had four days to prepare for the debut and people were wondering where they would get the money for to cover the expenses of such as big celebration, considering that their shop had been closed for over a year. Some even said they were not making practical decisions anymore―they had just buried Marvin’s father but they went to Bali, and still planned to hold a big birthday celebration.

But God made everything possible. It was not easy to explain and many people certainly did not agree with their decisions, but God made them experience His miraculous ways!

A Family United in Faith: Fearless and Faithful

Family unity shone brightest in mission work, with children singing and dancing publicly while parents evangelized, fostering fearless faith across generations. The Baysons show us the impact of family obedience—from street witnessing in the Philippines to touching lives in foreign lands—their sacrifices and their leaps of faith brought blessings, affirming that God honors obedient families with miracles beyond explanation.

The Baysons’ testimony demonstrates that God never fails those who trust Him and obey Him completely. He is more than able to meet the greatest needs. In Melinda’s own words, “God enabled my faith to be bigger than my fear and fuller than my wallet.”
